چکیده

Vicia palaestina Boiss. is an annual herb that grows in dry areas of eastern Mediterranean countries. It belongs to section Cracca subgenus Vicilla, which characterized by having a high content the non-protein amino acid canavanine. The seeds from some these vetches are also rich lectins. purification and characterization single-chain lectin V. described here. This was most abundant protein albumin extracts. has affinity for glycoconjugate N-acetylgalactosamine inhibits proliferation cancerous Caco-2 THP-1 cell lines. In addition their nutritional value, represent source lectins with health promoting pharmacological potential because antiproliferative activity.

Purification of an Antiproliferative Lectin from Erophaca Baetica (Leguminosae) Seeds

A lectin has been purified from the seeds of Erophaca baetica, an endemic legume of the Mediterranean Region. The protein has been purified from an albumin extract by gel filtration chromatography, after realization that affinity chromatography using Sephadex G-50 did not retain any proteins. Characterization of this protein shows that it is a 60 kDa homodimeric glycoprotein with 235 mg sugars ...

Purification and Characterization of a Lectin from VEstaria floribunda Seeds

A lectin from Wisturi~ floribunda seeds which specifically binds to N-acetyl-bgalactosamine was purified to homogeneity as judged by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Its molecular weight was estimated to be 68,000 by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis in the presence of sodium dodecyl sulfate. It dissociated into subunits on reduction with 2-mercaptoethanol with concomitant loss of hemagglut...

Purification, partial characterization and antimicrobial activity of Lectin from Chenopodium Quinoa seeds

Lectins are oligomeric carbohydrate-binding proteins that are involved in various biological recognition processes (Ghosh & Mandal, 2012). They are a large and diverse group of proteins that have the ability to bind reversibly to monosaccharides and oligosaccharides, which can be defined as a class of structurally diverse proteins or glycoproteins (Sharon, 2008). These proteins are widely distr...

Isolation and characterization of a novel lectin with antifungal and antiproliferative activities from Sophora alopecuroides seeds.

Sophora alopecuroides lectin (SAL), a novel lectin from the seeds of Sophora alopecuroides, was purified by ion-exchange chromatography on diethylaminoethyl (DEAE)- and carboxymethyl (CM)-Sepharose columns, followed by gel filtration on a Sephadex 75 10/300 GL column. SAL was found to be a monomer of 39916.3 Da, as determined by tricine-sodium dodecyl sulphate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis...

Purification and characterization of a mannose-binding lectin from the rhizomes of Aspidistra elatior Blume with antiproliferative activity.

A lectin with a novel N-terminal amino acid sequence was purified from the rhizomes of Aspidistra elatior Blume by ammonium sulphate precipitation, ion exchange chromatography on diethylaminoethyl-Sepharose and carboxymethyl-Sepharose and gel filtration chromatography on Sephacryl S-100. The A. elatior Blume lectin (AEL) is a heterotetramer with a molecular mass of 56 kDa and composed of two ho...
